Folk rock / Australian rock / MORE!
Австралия
Добавлен 17 мар 2007
Some of the videos on this channel are folk rock. Others are Australian rock. (Some might even fit more than one category.) Those that don't fit either category are the "More".
Hence the name.
And despite this explanation, I suspect I'll still get occasional confused comments about particular videos, eg "That's not Australian!!!" Oh well. :D

Chad's Tree : Buckle In The Rail excerpts (1986)
00:00 Heatwater Train
04:14 The Magician
07:37 The 31st Lie
12:24 Carve It In Wood
15:23 Calendar
Chad's Tree were an Australian rock band, formed in Perth in 1983 with two brothers, Mark and Rob Snarski, as the driving force. The band's brittle, off-kilter sound evoked the sense of distance, desolation, harshness and loneliness of the Nullarbor Plain (but also its fragile nature), much in the same fashion as fellow Perth outfit The Triffids.
The band relocated to Sydney in 1984, the remainder of the band followed some months later in James Hurst's kombi.
These are selected tracks from the first of Chad's Tree's two albums.

AI : Blind To Reality
Просмотров 362 часа назад
I don't intend to make the channel AI videos from now on, and this will be the second and final one on the subject of my psychotic ex-neighbour! But I thought I'd get ChatGPT to write some lyrics about a generic deluded narcissist, and then got udio.com to write the music within particular parameters. And it turned out really well! Again, no human was involved in the performance, arrangement or...
AI : Tolerance At Best

Something quite different here! No human was involved in the performance, arrangement or recording of this song - it's all done with AI via udio.com There are no doubt many concerns with the fact music can now be made this way, similar to ChatGPT, but in this case I found it quite cathartic to write the lyrics, set the parameters, and have a fully fledged song quickly appear about a literally p...
X-Ray-Z : Poor Image / Sledgehammer Hit / Citizen John
Просмотров 10519 часов назад
00:00 Poor Image 03:22 Sledgehammer Hit 06:55 Citizen John The band’s only single. X-Ray-Z is recognised as one of Australia's pioneering new wave outfits. The band had its roots in Adelaide pub band Rufus Red, but sensing a change in the musical climate the band adopted a 'poor image', renamed themselves X-Ray-Z and moved to Melbourne in early 1977. Here they set about establishing an identity...
Fairport Convention : I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Have Met)

An out-take from the Fairport "Nine" album in 1973, and one of the band's lesser-known Dylan covers. This recording eventually surfaced on the "Fairport Unconventional" box set in 2002. Trevor Lucas - vocals, acoustic guitar Dave Swarbrick - violin Jerry Donahue - electric guitar Dave Pegg - bass Dave Mattacks - drums Lucas and Donahue had previously performed the song for Fotheringay a few yea...
Save The Cranker rally, Adelaide (April 28 2024) feat. Pelvis
Просмотров 23514 дней назад
The 3000-strong crowd that gathered at Parliament House, Adelaide after walking from the Crown & Anchor, followed by a song from local band Pelvis. The popular independent live music venue is in danger of being "developed" ie destroyed with only its facade left. The problem revolves around such a place's historical and cultural value not being considered when such decisions are made. Moves are ...
The Backfeed Slumber : Liquid Love / Slomo
Просмотров 4821 день назад
00:00 Liquid Love 05:06 Slomo A single released in 1998 as a numbered edition of 50. "All songs written, performed and recorded by Nic Datson. Liquid Love recorded at The Vermiculounge. Slomo recorded at Lavaland. All songs engineered by Sean Quinlan at Northern Lights Studio. Nic played geetars, keys, samples, drums, feedback and noise." I somehow assumed an Adelaide connection but Discogs lis...
Don Lane : Rio Rita

From Bandstand (Australia), 1966. There was so much good music being released around this time - and this wasn't it. Also proving that rare does not automatically equal worthwhile. Yet here we are. At least it's short. I'm posting it for the bad taste factor, of course. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Lane
The Brats : Explosions / Nobody / 2002 (recorded 1980)
Просмотров 120Месяц назад
00:00 Explosions 02:11 Nobody (Is Really Where They Wanna Be) 05:40 2002 In every scene there's a band that seems to have a bristly relationship with other parts of the scene. In the case of Adelaide punks The Brats, that included an impressive list including themselves, promoters, venues, journalists, radio stations and political parties. Starting in May 1979, the band for the first seven mont...

Del Webb Explosion : One Way Love / Going Home
Просмотров 102Месяц назад
Del Webb Explosion was a seven-piece band, cast in the mold of British soul revivalists Dexy's Midnight Runners. They were active in Adelaide for 20 months between 1981 and 1983 with their first concert being played at the Union Hotel on 7 December 1981. The band was founded in Adelaide, South Australia by Peter Flierl in 1980, who had just returned from a trip to the UK with an incredibly stro...
The Ass.assins : Ass.ass.ination
Просмотров 63Месяц назад
The original band name and song title didn't have any full stops, but this seems to be the only way YT will accept it. (On the matter of anti-Malcolm Fraser songs...) "The most vociferous of them all is surely this ditty by three members of Adelaide legends the Dagoes. Although Fraser isn't mentioned by name, there's only one prime minister. Just to nail down the intention here's songwriter Dou...

Louis McManus : Cracked Pitcher
Просмотров 130Месяц назад
From the 1999 compilation CD 'With A Heart And A Hand'. An apparently otherwise unrecorded Reg Mombassa song (Mental As Anything / Dog Trumpet). No clue is given as to when and for what project this eccentric love song was recorded. Louis plays guitar and shares the vocals with his younger brother Antony. Louis McManus (born 1956, Glasgow, Scotland - died 12 December 2004, aged 48) was a Scots-...

He is one of the most underrated singers in Australia . Rock Pile Jones
My parents picked this cassette tape from a bargain bin somewhere and so I grew up with it! Absolutely rules, I'm now a preschool teacher and nothing compares.
A lot of beautiful Aussie ladies in the clip.
Beautiful song and great folk guitar work. That whole album is a stone-cold classic, shame it's not on RUclips Music
I really like it and it has the 80's sound to it which was my years thanks.🎵🎶🎼🎼🎶🎵
Trying to be like early incarnation of the pointers sister's doing 40s music world war two style
Sweet boy.
And RUclips put sn ad between 2 and 3 Shame on you
Thanx for this❤😊
Great band, but re The Vibrants, they continued after the split, until 1973.

Cocker power rocks

Good number if you pardon my pun If you thought that was eerie then about 45 years ago. Things like this so called 'Artificial Intelligence ' will give those guys Somert 2 sing about.
She got Last Laugh on those who said she would never make it WOW look at what she does in The Goldbergs writes and Directs way to go Rachel xx
Great, just great! But why do the people in the crowd look so unhappy?
Simon Nichol!
Simon Nichol! Thanks!
Stevie Wright, the best ! Thank you for the music !❤
No matter how much time goes by , this is Still a great song and as ever, great band and crowded house fantastic, they looked they had a lot of fun making this video the expression's on their faces are brilliant
Oh watch the PC brigades' heads explode trying to work out if they should be offended by this or should support it. It would make Scanners look like a pleasant fairy tail. Ian Dury would have been called a spastic back then. He thankfully survived a polio infection when he was a child.Which meant he had some mobility problems. Funny thing is Polio was going the way of small pox until the abominable morons of antivaxers got involved. That means antivaxer morons are responsible for the deaths of children and them becoming disabled after contracting Polio, not that are willing to accept the blame.
Red gum sing Al l the best song s. From Rodney Rivers Mittagong nsw Australia

Novacastion born and proud💙❤️🔵🔴
Lot of things going on really talented

What was wrong with Americans in the 60's and 70's? Hundreds of them put out horrible religious albums. WTAF?
This song touches me like few other songs (damn you Morrissey), but the Vietmanese version of this song cuts deeper.... And some one yelled out "what's that?" And the bright white flash was long. Next I was running down the road, & all my skin had gone. And can you tell me Ho Chi what it means to be free? God help me, I was only 13.
I love the sound of Maddy Prior's voice. Does this have any connection to today's Albion band, the one with Joe Parrish James guitarist who play(s/ed) for Jethro Tull.
Ashley Hutchings also expected Britfrock to be bigger than it actually became.
RIP Maart
Peggy!
Bonny Bunch was a welcome relief!
Awesome
I like it!
Video killed the radio star

Ol' 55 never got the recognition that they deserved. Their songs bring back so many good memories. Oh and the real pinball machines.
Memories of my last year at school. Good music, simpler life, Scouting and knocking on the door to adulthood. Would relive it anytime.
I was a kid in grade two in Greensborough (the next suburb) when this was happening. Three years later I was in grade 5 and I was a Skyhooks fan.
Truly amazing musicians.
Where’s Wilbur 👌👍💪🏻✌️.
